Dr. Winston O. Odom

Dr. Winston O. Odom serves Global Learning and Leadership as a director and as a senior education advisor. His area of emphasis relates to defining a transferable process for use by entities in the education field committed to use new innovative methods for both instruction and learning to address academic deficiencies. He provides guidance for the development and deployment of an integrated set of strategies and practices to address the severe academic needs of under-served children through an emphasis on STEM applications and experiences. He is well known for his leadership and major accomplishments in the education field. Dr. Odom established a distinguished reputation as an exemplary educator on the state and national level during his 39 years of professional service including as a secondary teacher and principal, central office administrator, state department specialist, and public-school superintendent.
Dr. Odom currently is the CEO/President of KA Education Consultants, LLC., in Chesapeake; a board member of the Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads; a former member of Chesapeake Parks and Recreation Advisory Board; chairman of the Education Committee of the Hampton Roads 200+Men Committee where he started the current 50 plus student member scholars academy; a former board member of the AIM Family Services; and former member of the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Virginia Corporate Board.
He is a former national president of American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) and state president of VASPA. He served as an eminent scholar for Virginia State University and an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, Old Dominion University and Regent University. He currently serves as a visiting professor at Northeastern University, Boston, MA. He is also a board member with the Portsmouth/Suffolk Alumni Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Dr. Odom has been recognized with many distinguished awards and honors from professional associations, social groups, community and government agencies, and churches including AASPA’s National Administrator of the Year in 2009; the Virginia Superintendent’s Group Region I Superintendent of the Year in 2011; an awardee of the Portsmouth Chapter of Delicados Educators Award in 2012; and a recipient of the Gazette Exemplar Award in 2014.
Dr. Odom received his Doctorate from Virginia Tech; Masters from University of Virginia; and Bachelor of Science from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC.
His most honored achievement is his position as a loving husband, proud father of three daughters, three sons-in-law, and eight grand-children.
